i like to read magazines, cuddle with dharma and practice standing. reminder: click on the photos to see them larger.
after letting simon write a few posts, i have to be the one to post these pics of just all around cuteness.
they finally started giving me stuff to put in my mouth at the same time they’re putting stuff in their mouths. it was getting hard to understand, since i put everything in my mouth and they don’t seem to. yet at the time when they sit down at this “table” thing and start putting stuff in their mouths for some reason, now i can’t put that stuff in my mouth…this just didn’t make sense to me. so far i’ve had a bit of avocado, some bananas and now this really cool thing mom called a teething biscuit. i suck on it, it sort of dissolves, it’s hard so it makes my gums feel better and i can feel like i’m involved in the dinner process.
mom got me this cool jumper the other day, i wasn’t too sure about it to start with, but after i figured out what i was supposed to do, i really started to have a good time. mom and dad sure do laugh at me when i’m in there, so i must be doing something right…i think they said something about it looking like i’m dancing a jig, whatever that means.
my scooting skills are really improving, i can move so much faster these days and this was really fun and i ws really proud of myself til i bonked my head on the dresser. mom just picked me up, smiled, gave me hugs, kissed my head and said, “it won’t be the last time”
later that day i scooted around the living room carpet, covering most of it at some point or another. duke is starting to look a little concerned…i can’t imagine why!
well as simon nears 6 months a lot has been changing as you might expect. i just packed up his 0-6 month clothes as he now needs pretty much 9 month sized stuff if not 12 months if it has pants or feet!
he can now roll from back to front and front to back with ease. if we put him up, he can stand with his arms on something with little support. he scoots backwards around the room and can get up on his hands and knees (or feet) and rocks back and forth. we are so close to crawling and the real end of order as we know it!
we’ve given away the swing to a younger friend and plan to offload the bouncy seat too because he can lean forward in both and touch the floor. his favorite thing to do for a while was to stop the swing from moving by holding onto the bars.
we now have a johnny jumper that is giving him a chance to see the world from an upright position and exercise his legs. he’s enjoying it quite a bit!
the next few posts will feature these new activities as well as showcase his other new endeavor…eating solids! you can click on the pictures to view them in larger format by the way.
and yes, i did cry a little as i packed this box, in case you were wondering.
for those of you that weren’t aware, i’ve got this one figured out now. i have been working on it for a while, sitting propped up, doing crunches, sitting while holding myself up with my hands leaning forward, etc. well now i can really do it, and i can even almost pull myself up from reclining into a seated position, sometimes i can do it if i try really hard! i know this picture looks like i’m leaning on my hands, but i’m not, i’m just so good at it now that i can just rest my hands there on my lap and chill out with this really serious look on my face.
mommy, daddy and i went to the nc zoo on labor day. it was really neat to see all the animals. i slept all the way there, and cried most of the way back. i was awake for a large portion of the zoo and slept through some of it, but not before i saw the giraffe, my sophie giraffe toy is my very favorite!
